From Zero to Everything: Commercial Lock and Security Upgrades You Can Buy

All year long, and especially during the holiday season, you want to make sure your store is secure. If you are like most business owners, you already have a basic deadbolt system on your doors. However, you could increase the security of your store with commercial lock upgrades. Here is how to take the commercial lock and security system you have from almost nothing to practically everything (if you want to take it that far).

Basic Deadbolt to Commercial, High-Tech Deadbolt

With this type of upgrade, you can swap out your current, basic deadbolts with more high-tech options. Push button, coded deadbolts can be substituted for your standard keyed deadbolts. Many of these are manual, and your commercial locksmiths can preset the internal tumblers to any numerical or alphabetical code you want, depending on the type of code used. If you really want to take it a step further, you can purchase digital touchpad deadbolts that are hardwired into your security system. If someone were to attempt a false code or try to hack the digital touchpad, the silent alarm would trigger and alert the police. Basic Pull Handle Door to Sliding Glass Door with an Action Eye

If you currently have a basic pull (or push) handle on your doors, a commercial locksmith can swap these out for sliding glass doors with motion detectors. The motion detectors can perform double duty. First, they slide open the door when customers approach, and second they can be upgraded to include a camera feed that plugs directly into your CCTV security system (if you upgrade your security system at the same time). The "action eye" can also be triggered to record movement outside your store afterhours, another upgrade that allows you to save power and conserve digital recording space when you are limited to "x" amount of hours of recording.

No Security Gates to Locking Accordian Gates

If you currently have no type of security gate outside your store or on your windows, you may wish to consider this upgrade. This is especially true if you cannot afford the high-tech upgrades previously mentioned. Commercial locksmiths can install the typical, accordian style gates you may have seen wrapped in front of other stores at night, along with a deadbolt that locks and secures this type of gate. It puts your front doors and windows just out of reach of would-be thieves and vandals while giving you additional low-tech protection. If you combine the accordian gates with all of your high-tech lock options, then your store may be locked up tighter than Fort Knox.
