Where To Buy A Vacation Home If You Love To Surf
If you love to surf, and you're always taking vacations to find killer waves, then it makes sense to look for choice surf spots when searching out a new vacation home. What would be better to own a home near one of the countries best surf spots. So, with that said, here are some places you should look into when you are in the market for a new home.
Santa Cruz, California
Santa Cruz is the first of two locations in California to show up on this list. Which makes sense, as California has some of the best surfing in the world. What's more, it's got a great climate that will let you surf year round (as long as you pack a wet suit for winter waves). Santa Cruz has a very chill vibe, and it's not super expensive. The area also has a really fun, old fashioned boardwalk amusement park. In addition to a killer beach, there is also great Redwood forest nearby. So, if you also like to hike, then Santa Cruz is perfect.
Malibu, California
If you are in the market for a pricier home for sale, and like luxury, modern, beachfront houses, then Malibu is the place to go. It's located near Los Angeles, so you will also be able to head in to the rock clubs, night clubs, and exclusive restaurants at night when you are done surfing. At dawn, you will see an unparalleled sunrise over the Santa Monica mountains. There are gorgeous houses that are right on the beach. If you find that the homes that are situated right on the beach are a bit out of your price range, then you can look at houses located a bit farther back in the Malibu Hills. The area is very steep, so you will get a great view from the homes located up in the hilly area.
Montauk, Long Island
If you prefer the east coast, then the end of Long Island is where you should look. Montauk is located in Suffolk Country. This is the eastern most county in Long Island. When you travel out of Manhattan, you will drive through Queens (still part of New York City) then pass into Nassau county, Long Island, and finally Suffolk county. At the very eastern tip of Suffolk Country is where you will find Montauk. If you have seen the television show The Affair, then you are familiar with the area. It's not overpopulated, and you will feel like you are outside of the big city. The area is also home to one of the best surf spots on the east coast (Ditch Plains).
